About My Esteem

Our mission is to spiritually educate, enlighten, and empower individuals in recovery on every platform.


My Esteem, Inc. is a tax-exempt public, non-profit organization under 501(c)3. We provide a variety of services to individuals who are ​in the recovery process, veterans, at-risk youth, and the previously incarcerated. Our programs include substance abuse education, ​self-care courses, anger management, emotional intelligence, DUI school, relationship and family counseling, and family violence ​education.


Our goal is to provide support and encouragement for participants to achieve success. We focus on goal setting to help them focus ​on the present and future. We teach them how to develop patience and a good work ethic, creating a sense of pride when they ​reach their goals.

Driving

DUI School

The material in our DUI program ​shows how impaired driving impacts ​your life and the lives of others you ​come into contact with. We offer ​therapeutic education and peer group ​counseling. Lessons cover alcohol and ​drug use and their effects on driving.

Our self-care program teaches the ​importance of taking the time to do ​things that help you live well and ​improve your physical and mental ​health. Self-care can help you manage ​stress, lower your risk of illness, and ​increase your energy.

Statistics

  • According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, in February 2021, 44.3% of adults in Georgia ​reported symptoms of anxiety or depression. 29.4% were unable to get needed counseling or therapy.
  • 35.1% of Georgia women and 39.9% of Georgia men experience intimate partner physical violence, ​sexual violence and/or stalking.
  • More than 10,000 people in the United States die each year in crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired ​driver.
  • In 2019 in Georgia, there were 353 traffic fatalities (out of 1,491) that involved a driver with a blood alcohol ​concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. That’s down from 379 alcohol-involved fatalities out of 1,540 in ​2018. Those 353 alcohol-involved fatalities accounted for 24 percent of Georgis’s 1,491 total traffic ​fatalities in 2019.
  • Drug overdose death rates have increased in Georgia from 10.7 per 100,000 in 2011 to 23.5 per 100,000 ​in 2021. Over the same period, drug overdose death rates increased from 13.2 to 32.4 per 100,000 in the ​U.S.
  • In Georgia, neglect is the most common form of abuse, with 5,563 victims in 2021, followed by emotional ​abuse with 2,239 victims, physical abuse with 1,108 victims, and sexual abuse with 763 victims.
